Life at Tapriza Secondary School
For our students, Tapriza Secondary School is far more than a place to attend classes. It is their home for most of the year, a safe haven where they can learn and grow without the hardships that make daily travel to school impossible.
Because many of our students' families live days away by foot across treacherous mountain terrain, we provide full residential facilities for every child from Early Childhood Development through Grade 10.
Our commitment to each student is holistic. We cover all educational costs including tuition, books, stationery, and materials so no family has to choose between survival and education.
Students receive three nutritious meals daily, supported by our school garden and orchard which also teaches agricultural skills.
Residential facilities, caring staff, uniforms, warm clothing, and healthcare services including free check-ups and medicine ensure every child is safe, healthy, and supported.
Our campus includes a two-story classroom building with twenty-three rooms, residential buildings for students, and dedicated housing for teachers and staff.
We also provide a library, meditation center, kitchen, dining hall, and a health post serving both the school and surrounding community.
Playgrounds for basketball, football, and volleyball, along with gardens and practical labs, support both physical and experiential learning.
Before TASHI-D began its work, only seven individuals in the region had completed secondary education. Today, more than two hundred students have graduated and pursued higher studies.
Every child in our area now has access to education. Many graduates have become nurses and health assistants, contributing back to their community.
Our students grow into individuals who are academically prepared, culturally rooted, environmentally aware, and equipped with practical life skills.
Cultural heritage such as ghumpas and chortens are preserved and protected. Local songs and dances are practiced and recorded within the school.
We promote environmental awareness, infrastructure development, and provide medical support to those in need, strengthening the entire community.
